Discover why olive oil has became one of the healthiest aliments.
We’ll visit the olive oil’s mill, housed inside a XIII century building in old town Orta, with breathtaking views over Sant Salvador monastery. After a few touches of local history, we’ll carry out a guided tasting of the monovarietal olive oils we produce (Empeltre, Arbequina and Picual) and we’ll learn how to differentiate currently olive oil’s qualities in the market, we’ll show you the huge benefits to health that olive oil has and we’ll also break some misbelieves around this aliment.
Afterwards, we’ll prepare and, most important, we’ll eat la clotxa!, a traditional meal of farmers of the area when they used to eat when they had the new season olive oil. In la clotxa, emptied bread works as container to carry salty grilled sardine, tomatoe and garlic all properly dressed with plenty of extra virgin olive oil.
